3D Vision mushroom trip (fading in and out)

I use an Asus ROG Strix XG17AHP for 3D vision when on the road. Normally, I use an Asus PG278QR and have great success with that.

Natively, 3D vision works with the ROG Strix XG17AHP, but it comes in and out in "waves". Crystal clear, then it slowly inverts and then returns again on a cycle.

When I load an EDID from an old 3D vision monitor I had (laptop - built in), the ROG Strix XG17AHP works fine (if you physically tilt it a little less than 90 degrees to improve the brightness).

I use a USB-C to USB-C connection for that monitor (usb 3.1 gen 2/thunderbolt combo port)

Does anyone know what causes the 3D vision to come in and out in waves like this if the EDID from the other panel I had is not loaded to trick it?

I am experiencing the same wave effect on an ASUS VG248QG. That is connected with a mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort (8k). It should work natively... but doesn't. Comes in waves.

I have connected an Asus PG278QR monitor with the same setup (but a 16k cable) and it worked perfectly without any tweaking at all.

Sadly, I can't buy a 16k cable where I am right now to test that. I have a 16k USB-C to DisplayPort cable coming to see if that connects to the ASUS VG248QG for 3D vision, but not sure if it will resolve the issue as I've never used that before.

Very odd issues with my displays. My native panel in my laptop is a 120hz QHD 2560x1440 (TN) - AUO B173QTN01.4

Wish I could throw 3D vision against the wall, but I use it for work and don't have another option which is affordable!

What an excellent wealth of knowledge on this board. I'm wondering if anyone has experienced something similar and had a fix for it?

Cheers,

Greg
