Weird thing about FreeSync over HDMI

I have a FreeSync monitor (AOC G2260VWQ6), and a R9 280X, in theory it's all perfect for me to use FreeSync but the problem is this:

I have done perfectly every step of the guides out there to get the FS over HDMI and I still dont get it. Tried everything on CRU and nothing, I don't know what more to do, is there any secret or this monitor just doesn't support it over HDMI?

And yes, I could use DP but the thing is that my 280X uses mini-DP and I have a normal DP.

Thanks, I'm new here.

Need help in modding Asus Strix Radeon RX 470

Hi,
I'm mining Ethereum with Asus ROG Strix Radeon Rx470 4Gb GDDR5 (with Hynix memory) at about 20 MH/s
I have Windows 7 64bit, graphic driver is Crimson 17.1.1.
I heard that if I mod the BIOS for faster mining (with PolarisBIOSeditor + Atiflash) it is possible that the graphic driver will refuse to recognize
the modded BIOS due to a security check!!!. This really concerns me since, I have only ONE (this) gpu (and no integrated gpu at all) in my system and could risk losing all the interactivity with the PC if something goes wrong...
I heard that we are supposed to disable this bios check through the Pixel Clock Patcher... But I really don't know what version of patcher should I use for my system... and exactly when should we run the patcher??
Can anyone help me?
Thank you very much

ASUS GTX1080TI STRIX OC with Acer XG270HU can't set to 144 hz

Hallo Forum,

I have an ASUS GTX1080TI STRIX OC graphic card and want to run an ACER PREDATOR XG270HU with it. The monitor is connected with a DisplayPort cable. On the PC there’s an up-to-date Windows 10 with the latest drivers installed.

Unfortunately I can’t select a WQHD (2560 x 1440) resolution with 144 Hz on the Nvidia control panel (version 378.78). The maximum I can select is 75 Hz; 144 Hz is not selectable, regardless of the resolution.

I have already tried a lot: Changed the HDMI port, changed the monitor cable, reinstalled the drivers, connected the monitor to another PC with the same configuration, etc.

I has unfortunately no experience with the CRU tool. Is there perhaps a setting file to import ?

Does anyone have an idea what to do? I’m out of ideas.

Thank you a lot.

Monitor Degradation? Is my OC safe?

So basically I used CRU to overclock my monitor to 75hz, I had to use LCD Reduced mode (which lowers pixel clock, because otherwise it was unstable).

I remember being able to overclock with factory pixel clocks to 70-74hz before, now after months of using a reduced pixel clock, my monitor only overclocks to about 65-66hz.

Weird thing is, monitor works just fine at 75hz with the reduced pixel clock, no frame skipping and I saw artifacts only once (which was weird, never happened again after that).

So, is this degradation? Should I be safe to keep running at 75hz on a lower pixel clock, or should I just leave everything at stock?

I searched everywhere to read some more about monitor overclocking and pixel clocks but found nothing.

So I just downloaded Toasty's Pixel Patcher and I'm now able to get 74hz without changing timings at all, I'm guessing I should be fine?

Eyes. Flatron.

1.How CRU changes affects eyes? At least in theory.

2.R9380, LG Flatron W2442PA and DVI for 1920x1080?
I believe without patch i can have only around 75hz with "LCD reduced"(pixel clock 164.61), but with patch and "LCD standard" i can achieve 120 hz (pixel clock 285.55) but it will be bottlenecked by monitor hardware.

3.Am i wrong/right and what advice can you give about this setup?

Thx ahead!

C27F591 OC, some questions from newbie

Hi,
recently I bought Samsung C27F591 which is supposed to run easily with 72hz refresh rate. The only problem I have is that I don't know what settings are most safe.

I can create custom resolution in intel control panel but I have to pick from a few standards, here they are: GTF, CVT, CVT-RB, CEA 861. Monitor seems to work with first three ones, I didn't test the last one. What bothers me though is that I have literally no idea what these settings actually are and which one is the best for my monitor. None of them produces any glitches, however I still feel concerned about longevity of my monitor. Even worse it does seem that neither of this option uses the same sync polarity as my monitor natively uses. When I go to monitor menu and check information tab, it says something like "80.4khz, 72hz, NP" with one standard and PN with other. Does this refer to sync polarity? If I set monitor to native full hd 60hz it says "PP" which corelates to +/+ which is native polarity for that resolution and refresh rate. Is this a problem? On the one hand I heard sync polarity should be the same as monitor native, but on the other hand this very monitor uses different sync polarities depending on resolution:

http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/conten...8A-Eng.pdf (page 36)

This very sheet also says max pixel clock for my monitor is 148mhz, this is another (after sync polarity) thing that I don't understand. From what I get this has somethig to do with the amount of pixels that run through my monitor. Does running my monitor at higher pixel clocks damage it over time? What about these other settigns i can change in CRU? If, for example I set, let's say, blanking too high or too low, can it damage my monitor? The same question applies to other parameters. What if for example i set the refresh rate to 240hz, will it burn my monitor immediately? Alaso I noticed that when I use a non standard refresh rate, I can;t change hdmi black level option in monitor menu. It keeps the last setting. Is it normal? Also, If my monitor can run at these 72 hz, does it mean it can also run any refresh rate lower than that assuming all other settings stay the same?

These above are questions that I ask out of curiosity, the only one that is really improtant to me is what are the best 72 hz settings for my monitor, should the sync polarity remain +/+ (it's the same polarity as for native resolution and refresh rate), or it doesn;t matter? If my monitor can run these 72hz at "LCD native" preset, should I keep it, or change to "LCD reduced" in order to lower pixel clock speed (178mhz vs 160mhz) or maybe I should switch to LCD standard and then manually set polarity to +/+ (it's +/- by default)?

I add a few screens that show how these settings look like for me: http://imgur.com/a/ZMexh

The monitor is connected via HDMI cable.

Any information would be really helpful.

Not optimum mode issue

Hello, please forgive me as i am a noob around here.

I use a flight simulator called Prepared3d, it is not a true fullscreen simulator therefore vsyn doesent work properly.

I have a Samsung C32F391FWU Curved Full HD Monitor 32" and a GTX 980Ti using driver version 384.76.

The simulator rarely gets above 40fps, on average around 30fps, and my monitor will only go down to 50hz refresh. I have tried CRU to drop it to 30Hz, but when i change the resolution a black screen pops up with a message which says not optimal mode, sugguest 60hz etc.

Is there any way I can force this monitor to 30 or 40hz? This would then ensure a smooth simulation as the hz are the same as the fps.

Thanks
Adam

Dell u2713h nvcp manual settings

Hi everyone!

I need help with my settings in nvcp or do i need to install pixel patcher?

My current setup:
Monitor: Dell u2713h
Cable: Display port (1.2 i am not sure but it is enabled in monitor menu)
GPU: Gtx 970
Driver version: 384.76 x64

My target custom resolution: 2560x1440p max __hz stable (stock is 60)

Currently i can do 4k uhd (3840x2160) @ 60hz using nvcp i want to create another custom resolution for my fps games which is 2560x1440 with higher refresh max possible (144hz?) for this setup. thank you guys.

Edit: seems i can reach 144hz in 4k but not in 2k. Are there any cons for using 4k resolution @ 144hz using nvidia control panel? Will my monitor or gpu get rekt faster?
2nd edit: 144hz @ 4k doesnt save but testing succeeds on nvcp.

Cheers,

Overclocking Help - Acer G257HL BMIDX

I'm attempting to overclock this monitor hopefully up to 75hz (one Amazon reviewer got up this high). My build uses a XFX R9 280X and I have Radeon Settings installed. Using Win10 64-bit. Monitor is connected to the pc via hdmi, though I don't know the hdmi version.

So far, I have tried both Radeon Settings and CRU to overclock this monitor. In Radeon Settings, I've gone to Display, create custom resolution, and changed to 61, 70, and 75 followed by going to the desktop, right-clicking, display settings, display adapter, then monitor tab and selecting the new refresh rate. The screen blacks out when saving the custom resolution in Radeon Settings and after selecting the new refresh is display settings, but when I go to the ufo test site, that site reports 60 refresh (the bar beneath the ufo animation always goes to "Ready", though.

Using CRU, I follow the instructions to add the new refresh rates, change to LCD Standard, and then restart64 to restart the driver, then go into the windows display settings, monitor tab, and select the new refresh, and, again, ufo test with a reported 60 refresh.

Can anyone help me find a guide for this specific model or provide some advice on what I might be doing wrong?

Thanks in advance.

Fake DVI dual link cable?

Hello everyone. So I am attempting to overclock my monitor which is Philips 227E3LH. I have a Nvidia GTX 750 and a DVI cable.

So I managed to successfully overclock my monitor to 1080P 75Hz and been using it for years without any problems or frame skipping with single link DVI cable. I can overclock using two ways. First without using the pixel clock patcher using LCD reduced timing at 75Hz which results to 164.6Mhz. Second using the pixel clock patcher and LCD native at 75Hz which results to 185.6Mhz.

So I bought a Dual link DVI cable so I can use native timings at 75Hz without without using the patcher. I am certain dual link DVI has 330Mhz pixel clock limit but this cable I got has same results as single link still cant go over 165Mhz. My monitor and graphics both has Dual Link DVI ports. So, although having 24-pins I suspect it is a fake dual link DVI cable.

Is the Pixel Clock patcher needed to get higher than 165Mhz in a Dual Link DVI cable or mine is surely fake.1080P 75hz at 185Mhz without the patcher possible in real dual link DVI cable? Thanks for reading.

CRU vs Benq E 2200 hd

I upped the refresh rate with CRU to 70 and 75 Hz.

It seems smooth, but it looks horrible. Everything gets blurry/thin, especially text.

I wanted to add a screenshot, but if I take a picture of it using the "print" key everything looks completely perfect on the .jpg.

I don't know if I am doing something wrong, or it's just the monitor.

This is what I did.
- Open CRU
- Add detailed resolution
- Change refresh rate to 70/75
- Doubleclick restart64.exe
- Monitor settings -> select 1920x1080 @75/70 Hz.

Maybe my monitor can't handle it?

Setup:
Benq E 2200 HD (DVI cable)
Radeon 7870HD (Driver Crimson 17.6.2)
I5 3570K @ 4.3 GHZ
Win7

Thanks for the help in advance

Custom refresh rate posiible on The Gigabyte Aero 15x?

I'm planning to buy the Gigabyte Aero 15x, but i want to know if a custom refresh rate is possible for its 1080p screen.
I'm fine with 60 hz for daily tasks but for gaming, i plan to overclock the display to at least 75hz.
I want to know if its possible because i'd be spending an awful lot of money and i want to make the best out of it, otherwise i would have bought an Asus GL502VS with a 120hz refresh rate panel, But portability and aesthetics are important for me (the bezels on the Asus are awful).[/size]

IIAMA refresh 144HZ -soon after power outage booted with lower value

Hello.
My pc:
*Asus Z170-P with 6700K cpu

*Corsair 750 RM

*Gtx 1080 Ti Founder Edition

*Monitor Red Eagle IIyama 24' 1080p 144hz plugged by display port cable to GFX.

Few days ago i get power outage.

Pc was running in fire strike benchmark.
At the same time my mother was powering on electric oven in kitchen.
And then power went out in house.
Then she go to shop and buy new fuse.
Later a friend replaced fuse and power back on in house.

When power back. I booted pc first time and all was fine, refresh 144hz . But then i turn off pc . Go rest to bed. After 30 minutes i turn pc on again. And then windows 10 booted with lower refresh than 144hz. To revert 144hz i turn off monitor and turn back on.

So conclusion: It happened not just after ( not on pc first power on ) power outage.
But on second time ( second turn ) when i boot to Windows 10. On my second turning on pc, second boot to windows. So not immediately after power outage.

Just on my second turning ON pc after power outage, it happened. Thats all.

And i am not able to reproduce. Turning off pc few times and booting again, and nothing, still 144hz. Even i cut power 3 times to check, but still 144hz on boot. So maybe that was glitch or something but not related to that power outage?

CRU & New AMD drivers Override not working

Hi!

I use CRU to add low resolutions in an Arcadecab with a R9 290X connected via DP to VGA active adapter to a Tri-Sync Arcade Monitor. I'm on Win10 X64 1709

It was working very well and i was able to add many custom resolution.

But after the 17.4.1 Radeon software version, the override just didn't apply......
If i open CRU, the custom modes are present, but i can't select them with quickres (it just allow me standard resolutions).

Latest drivers working are the 17.4.1. I've tested ALL versions after this one and they all failed. Generic Microsoft driver works with CRU and i can use custom resolutions (version 22/05/2017 )

I don't know what happened because i don't see other people complaining about this elsewhere.

Perhaps a modification in the monitor detection with DP in drivers after 17.4.1??

Have you ever known this problem?

Thanks
