Laptop's display works fine at 60Hz but black screen and flickering lines at 144Hz

I live in a very humid area and due to condensation, my laptop's screen was liquid damaged. After the damage my laptop's screen started occasionally flickering @144Hz so I used CRU to mess with the pixel clock and blanking values to fix it. Now, after a couple of months, the screen doesn't work @ 144Hz anymore. The screen goes completely black and flickering white lines are displayed. 3 lines are in the horizontal direction, which do not change their position, and 2 lines are displayed vertically, oscillating up and down a bit. Could the liquid damage have somehow shorted a portion of the LCD driver circuit responsible for 144Hz and not the 60Hz? Should I keep messing with the pixel clock and other values to see if I can somehow find values for which 144Hz mode would work? Help me diagnose this issue and find a solution.
