Custom refresh rates (underclock) on 144hz monitor

$

Hello. I'd like an hand to understand how I could get my custom set of refresh rates.

I have a 144hz monitor, but since I can't always get 144fps, I'd like to have a different set of refresh rates.

My idea was to have a choice between
144hz
132hz
120hz
108hz
96hz
84hz
72hz
60hz

My monitor only comes with standard 144hz, 120hz and 60hz.

If i try to set those custom refresh rates via CRU or Nvidia cp, it appears to work but when I try UFO test or just play a game it's obvious something's wrong. VSync just doesn't work and I have constant stutter.

I guess it's about to get the timings right other than the refresh rate and resolution : could you point me in the right direction to get these right? How do i calculate the right values based on the already existent values on the monitor?

I attached the already existent resolutions on the post. Hope it could be useful.

The monitor model is Yashi Pioneer YZ2717 but there's zero info about this on the internet (not even a single review, i blindly bought it because it was at an awesome price for the specs : 2560x1440/144hz and I'm very satisfied with the colours for a TN panel)

I like to play with v-sync but I don't always get 144fps or 120fps, even if I have a GTX 1080Ti. 108hz would already be smooth enough for me, at the moment.

refresh rate after sleep

Hello.
I've set custom refresh rate with CRU (thank you, author).
Patched AMD driver (I have Radeon card) - it makes custom refresh rate work on Windows boot.
But on wake after sleep refresh rate is still 60 Hz.
Is there solution?

Monitor extremely blurry at 75hz LCD Standard

Hi, I have a Samsung SyncMaster XL2370 connected to a Radeon HD 5870 through a DVI-D DL cable.

In LCD Reduced (164.61MHz) mode my monitor can handle up to 76hz (164.81MHz), going black at 77hz (164.96MHz).

In LCD Standard (174.57MHz) and LCD Native (185.63MHz) the screen becomes extremely blurry even at 75hz.

I've tried messing around with Range limits, increasing Max pixel clock to 190MHz (it was 170MHz originally), but the screen is still blurry.

From what I understand, LCD Reduced forces my GPU to run at 400MHz/1200MHz all the time, that's why I'm trying to achieve 75hz in LCD Standard or Native.

Is this a hardware limitation, or did I setup something wrong?

Custom Resolutions on 2160p monitor

Hi all.
I am new on this forum, so nice to meet you.

I have a monitor ASUS MX27UC that is 2160p and i am happy with that.
I am using ASUS 1080ti GPU.

I am playing games on 60fps (usually) at 2160p resolution.

I have tried to OC my monitor and the maximum i get to work is 70hz.

The problem is that V-SYNC seems not to work correctly. i have tried for example on 62hz and i see something like stutterings or frame skipping on 62fps . it is actually bad on my eyes.
(i am testing on Battlefield and i see my fps (using Rivatuner) stucked at 62fps). At the options of the game it also recognise as 2160p/62hz the monitor.

So it seems that everything works perfect but it the result is bad.

The reason that i want to Overclock my monitor is to play games at 70fps (when the gpu can handle it). Also i have an idea to underclock at 54hz or 56hz for the same reason. So the games are smoother at 56fps/V-Sync.

Any help?

I have recently bought Dell P2417H Monitor and there is a red stuck pixel in the left corner that i could not get rid off. I have tried all the pixel fixing softwares and even applied some pressure to it manually but it is still there. Does anyone have any better idea on how to get rid of it? Thanks

Refresh rates over 80hz suddenly hidden in Windows 10

I have an Overlord X270OC which I've been running for a while with settings in CRU that go up to 120hz. I'd left the monitor set at 64hz for a while because I hadn't been playing any games lately, but today I went to set it to 120hz and I found that the settings for 100 and 120 had simply disappeared. I tried re-adding them in CRU, tried updating my graphics driver and restarting the computer, etc, and nothing helped. The only settings visible under Display Adapter Properties -> Monitor are 64hz and 80hz.

There was just a major Windows 10 update recently, and I'm thinking this must've been what caused the issue. Looking at the "events" tab in the monitor properties, it looks like some stuff happened 9 days ago:

Anyone have any idea how this happened, or how I could fix it? It seems somehow Windows has just forgotten that this monitor is capable of displaying higher refresh rates, despite the settings in CRU. Maybe it's something with that .inf file?

Image persistence issue persists, what else can I do?

$

For the last two weeks (or more) I've been running IrfanView slideshow (black and white color) on the bottom of my screen to remove image persistence left by the taskbar. The image persistence itself happend quite a while ago and only recently I decided to focus on fixing it.

At first I set slideshow to change images every second but later I was increasing the frequency so in the end it was switching every 0.05 second. It's been running for about 6 hours every day.

However it's still there and I don't know what else can I do:/ I think it's not as visible but still definitely visible to me.

Monitor Model is Samsung C27F591 and it's quite rdiculous since it uses a VA panel which should be entirely free from this issue. Guys from Rtings do their extreme burn in test and after months of being turned on for almost 24/7 their TV with VA and IPS panels show no signs of image persistence meanwhile it looks like mine developed it relatively quicly after switching to a background with black bottom. Sad.

Is there any trick or fix that I might have missed?

If nothing works I guess I;ll try to return it to a storer but I doubt they're going to fix it.

AMD screen tearing multiple monitors using multiple ports

Hi,

Awesome software.

I have a MSI rx580 8GB card and 2 x LG 27mp68vq freesync (1920 x 1080p) and 1 x LG 34um59 freesync (2560 x 1080p) monitors that i am using as a 3 monitor set for sim racing , i have since found out the hard way that i can't get the monitors to sync their refresh rates as i can get either the 34um59 fine and the 2 x 27mp68vq with tearing or both the 27mp68vq fine and the 34um59 with tearing.

The 34 has only hdmi x 2 as input and the 27's have 1 x hdmi , 1 x dvi and 1 x vga (i know i should have researched this more and bought monitors with dp inputs)
The card has 2 x hdmi and 2 x displayport and 1 x dvi (i have tried all combinations except dvi with the same result). I have both passive and active dp to hdmi adapters. I am using the hdmi inputs on all 3 monitors.

I believe it's because whichever i define in eyefinity as the preferred monitor sets the timing for all 3 , but there are slight timing differences between the hdmi and dp .

eg
34um59 refresh rate is 74.991hz and because it's the preferred monitor it outputs that frequency across both hdmi and dp but the 27mp68vq is 74.975hz(from memory) via hdmi .
My theory is i should be able to create a custom resolution with 74.991hz for both the 27mp68vq via hdmi to make them sync with the 74.991hz refresh rate being output to all 3.

Will this work as i expect ? or other suggestions for a fix would be appreciated.

Thanks

David

Converting DVI duallink to HDMI or Display port possible? (@2560x 1440 pixels)

I want to upgrade my monitor form 24" to 27". Therefore, my resolution will change form 1920 x 1080 to 2560x 1440 pixels. Newer monitors do not have DVI plugs anymore.

I am using a KVM setup that I woudl like to keep if at all possible. My KVM and cables are capable 2560 × 1600 (all dual link).
There are adapter DVI to HDMI or display port. But will it work? Wouldn't the the two DVI streams need to be combined?
Or can I force 2560x 1440 through DVI to HDMI using a standard adopter cable? DVI to HDMI cable?

ASUS VG248QE - Non-default aspect ratio and display scaling, is it enabled?

Hi there,

So I use stretched resolutions for my games (lower Field of View, stretched hitboxes, preference) due to my bothersome eyesight and like to take advantage of my monitor's display scaling feature since I find NVIDIA's GPU scaling to provide a feeling of delay/sluggishness (nor do I want to use the inferior Fullscreen Windowed option). This usually involves a fair bit of trickery, some games are happy, some games won't force itself back to 1080p if I have the 1080p refresh rate set at 145Hz (it's a 144hz monitor), and some require me to set up the resolution via NVIDIA control panel rather than using CRU (but this disallows the use of 1080p in games, a nuisance).

Anyway, I want to take advantage of my monitor's built-in crosshair and it was implemented off-centre: I've managed to find an aspect ratio which corrects this off-centredness and wish to use it. However, the Aspect Ratio menu option which is available with a recognised resolution such as 1280x960 (4:3) is greyed out for non-recognised aspect ratios such as the one I want. However, the screen is correctly stretched and the OSD's Display Information shows the resolution I want, but is this stretching being done by the display or the GPU (I have NVIDIA scaling set to None). I'm curious as to what is dictating the Fullscreen stretching if it is the display doing the work - why is it not just showing the resolution unstretched since the Aspect Ratio option is Greyed Out (but the greyed out option is on Full though). Is this the default mode of operation for non-recognised Aspect Ratios?

Furthermore, upon adding a larger resolution and/or higher Hz resolution I discovered that I could add blackbars according to my specification (I wondered if this could help my eyes focus). The resolution that was deemed native by CRU (the lower one) was being scaled to the higher one and the OSD was showing the higher resolution (e.g. 1280x922 resolution in game to 1280x1000 on OSD). My initial impression was that there was some added delay, however, this could have been down to other factors and was wondering if there is extra processing involved which could be inefficient and cause even further 'input delay' as a result of this method.

Thanks all.

Change Hz on j5create USB to HDMI adapter

I'm using a USB to HDMI graphics adapter to add another display to my laptop. https://en.j5create.com/products/jua350?...0609582020

I want to use this extended display as an input into a Blackmagic Design ATEM video production switcher but have to match the input resolution and frame rate of the switcher (1920x1080 59.94Hz interlaced or 29.97Hz interlaced). My nVidia card will output 59 Hz works with the ATEM.

But I need the j5create USB to HDMI adapter to work with it as well but only have 50Hz and 60Hz included in the drivers.

Will CRU allow this to work? I can't seem to make it work.

Thanks.

ASUS VG248QE Service Panel - What does Scalerbank do?

$

Hi,

I run stretched resolution using display scaling (and at max brightness, ouch my eyes). I've searched on the net but can't find anything as to what 'scalerbank' does in the service panel, there's 8 or so different values and each value prompts a black screen 'resolution change' and an accompanying placebo effect of decreased/increased latency.

Any ideas on what the values do and if there's an optimum?

On LCD standard 87 hz i have 2 little black bars, but when i change to native its fullscreen but kinda blurry 24 32 32 3 5 10
I was trying to get freesync on this monitor, but i dont know how to do it properly. I was trying on 68 hz, horizontal 74.999, under 165 pixel clock, range 34-68, when i was testing my monitor flashes every few seconds, turns black, turn on... still
I will really appreciate every help. greetings

Cannot run a custom resolution natively

$

So I have a 16:10 monitor with a native resolution of 1680x1050.

I would like to lower that resolution while maintaining the aspect ratio of 16:10

The one that made sense was 1280x800 which was already listed by default as a resolution by windows. But for some reason it's not running natively.
My monitor reports an actual resolution of 1280x960(4:3) which means it's being scaled and not running natively. (display scaling?)

In AMD Adrenalin Panel I have made sure that GPU-Scaling is set to off.
If I turn it on it gets even worse and scales at an even higher resolution (the monitor's native res specifically)

All I want is to run a low 16:10 resolution natively. Too much to ask? Sad
